FMCSA Motus Update — What This Means for MC Numbers

Under FMCSA's new Motus system, operating authority continues to be required — MC numbers currently remain the mechanism for for-hire authorization while the agency transitions to a USDOT suffix model.

How It Works

Why isn't my authority active right away?
After the application is granted there is about a 21-day protest period, and your BOC-3 and insurance filings must be on record before the authority can become active.
